Man arrested in Colchester, NY drug bust

COLCHESTER — A New York man was arrested on April 13 after police executed a search warrant at his residence, uncovering an illegal marijuana grow operation and various other drugs.

Brian Shear Jr. of Cooks Falls was taken into custody after Colchester Police, with assistance from the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office, discovered grow rooms in his house and garage.

During the search, authorities found over 10 pounds of cannabis, ecstasy, cocaine, methamphetamine, GHB, psilocybin mushrooms, packaging materials for sale, and scales.

Shear Jr. was charged with Criminal Possession of Cannabis 1st degree and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 5th degree, both Class D felonies.

He was transported to the Delaware County Correctional Facility to await arraignment at Central Arraignment.

Daniel Perodeau of Lebanon was also arrested at the residence and charged with Criminal Possession of Cannabis 1st degree, a Class D felony, and Criminal Possession of Controlled Substance 7th degree, a Class A misdemeanor.

Perodeau was released on appearance tickets.

The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges are pending, according to police.

Roscoe-Rockland EMS and Town of Hancock EMS also provided assistance during the operation.
