SALEM — Salem police responded to multiple reports of gunshots on Albion Street early Monday morning, officials said.
Officers arrived at the scene at 6:55 a.m. and found evidence that numerous shots had been fired in the street.
No injuries were reported, and the suspects had fled before police arrived.
Detectives from the Salem Police Criminal Investigation Division, along with the Massachusetts State Police Ballistics Unit, are processing the crime scene.
Authorities are asking the public to avoid the area while the investigation continues.
Police believe the attack was not random and that the threat to the public has ended.
Officials stated that the perpetrators are believed to have left the area.
