Auburn police arrest suspect in $6,000 Holiday Inn theft after foot chase

AUBURN — Auburn police arrested a man on burglary and grand larceny charges following a theft at the Holiday Inn where over $6,000 worth of property was stolen.

On April 11 at approximately 11:30 a.m., Auburn Police Officers responded to the Holiday Inn for a reported larceny.

Multiple victims reported that property valued at over $6,000 was stolen around 12:30 a.m. by a single suspect.

Officers secured statements and video footage and reached out to other agencies in the area to identify the suspect.

New York State Police later identified the suspect as Travis Ryan, whom they had previously encountered during a similar complaint outside the city.

On April 13, Auburn Police were notified by Holiday Inn staff that Ryan had returned to the property.

Officers responded to the Holiday Inn and took Ryan into custody after a brief foot pursuit.

Ryan was processed at Auburn Police Department headquarters and then transported to Cayuga County Jail where he was held pending arraignment.

He was charged with third-degree burglary, a class D felony; third-degree grand larceny, a class D felony; and resisting arrest, a class A misdemeanor.
