NORWALK — A 52-year-old moped rider died after being struck by a vehicle at a Norwalk intersection early Sunday morning, police said.
Jose Olavarria of Norwalk was hit at the intersection of West Avenue and Reed Street at 3:51 a.m. on April 13, according to the Norwalk Police Department.
Emergency responders from Norwalk Police, Fire Department and Hospital Emergency Medical Services provided immediate medical aid at the scene.
Olavarria was transported to Norwalk Hospital by ambulance where he later died from his injuries.
The driver of the vehicle that struck Olavarria remained at the scene, police said.
The department’s Crash Reconstruction Unit and Crime Scene Unit responded to process the scene.
