LONG BEACH — A 68-year-old male pedestrian was critically injured after being struck by an electric bicycle Friday night at the intersection of East Park Avenue and Riverside Boulevard.
The Long Beach Police Department responded to the scene at approximately 9:01 p.m. on April 11, where officers found the man lying in the roadway with a head injury.
Long Beach Fire Department personnel transported the victim to an area hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
The e-bike operator remained at the scene and is cooperating with authorities, according to police.
Detectives from both the Long Beach and Nassau County Police Departments are conducting an ongoing investigation into the incident.
The Long Beach Police Department stated they will continue to enforce all local and state regulations regarding e-bike usage to ensure community safety.
