SOUTHBURY — Police arrested a local woman for driving with a blood alcohol level more than three times the legal limit after she allegedly fled the scene of a rollover crash on Main Street South Thursday morning.

Emergency dispatchers received multiple 911 calls reporting the accident near Flood Bridge Road around 11:53 a.m. on April 10, according to Southbury Police.

Officers arrived to find a vehicle resting on its side with the driver already removed by bystanders.

The injured driver was transported to Waterbury Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Witnesses told police the crash involved two vehicles, with one fleeing the scene.

Officers quickly located the suspect vehicle about 2.5 miles away and identified the driver as Tracy Rossitto, 38, of Southbury.

Rossitto failed field sobriety tests administered at the scene and was taken into custody at 12:25 p.m., police said.

A subsequent breathalyzer test revealed Rossitto had a blood alcohol content of 0.28, more than three times Connecticut’s legal limit.

Rossitto faces charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, evading responsibility causing injury, and following too closely.

She was released on a $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on April 21 at 9 a.m.
