MANLIUS — A 15-year-old student at Fayetteville-Manlius High School was issued a Family Court appearance ticket Friday after being found with a knife following a verbal altercation with another student.
Town of Manlius Police Department School Information Resource Officers responded to the incident at approximately 2:30 p.m. on April 11.
No one was injured during the altercation, which was diffused by school staff and officers.
The student was charged with second-degree menacing, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and endangering the welfare of a child, all misdemeanors.
Police officials said they coordinated with the FM School District and consulted with the Onondaga County District Attorney’s Office before filing charges.
Authorities noted they are respecting the privacy and confidentiality requirements of the juvenile justice system and Educational Law.
