RONKONKOMA — Suffolk County police are seeking information about a 2022 fatal hit-and-run in Ronkonkoma as part of Crime Victims Rights’ Week.
Robert Twiford, 61, of Melville, parked his vehicle on the off ramp of eastbound Long Island Expressway at exit 60 on December 5, 2022.
After exiting his vehicle, Twiford was struck while in the lane of travel by a vehicle that fled the scene.
The driver of the fleeing vehicle stopped on Garrity Avenue in Ronkonkoma, exited his vehicle and examined it with a flashlight.
Witnesses described the vehicle as a light-colored, possibly gray, 2015 to 2018 Ford Focus hatchback.
Twiford died at the hospital from his injuries.
