Police investigate verbal threat at Danville school

DANVILLE — Vermont State Police responded to a reported verbal threat involving students bringing firearms into the Danville School at approximately 12:15 p.m. Friday.

Troopers and officers from the Vermont Department of Motor Vehicles immediately went to the school to investigate.

By 1:40 p.m., authorities determined the school and everyone inside were safe.

No firearms were found during the investigation, and officials determined the students involved did not have any immediate means to carry out the reported threat.

The school was placed on lockdown during the initial investigation, but classes later resumed as normal.

Police maintained a presence at the school as a precautionary measure while the investigation continued.

Detectives from the Vermont State Police Criminal Division are actively investigating the incident in conjunction with the Caledonia County State Attorney’s Office.

No criminal charges are pending at this time.
