NY man charged with child exploitation, weapons offenses

OGDENSBURG — State Police have charged a Brier Hill man with multiple felony counts related to child exploitation and illegal weapons possession following an investigation into unlawful surveillance.

Eric A. Olcott, 44, faces numerous charges including multiple counts of unlawful surveillance, promoting sexual performance by a child, possessing sexual performance by a child, and weapons offenses.

The investigation began Feb. 28 at approximately 1:45 p.m. when State Police received a report of unlawful surveillance involving two juvenile victims.

Investigators executed multiple search warrants that revealed Olcott had been downloading and saving images from video surveillance of both victims.

During the searches, authorities also discovered an assault rifle and 16 high-capacity ammunition magazines.

Olcott was arrested and processed at the State Police barracks in Ogdensburg before being arraigned in Town of Morristown Court.

He was remanded to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility with bail set at $1,000,000 cash, $200,000 bail bond, or $100,000 partially secured appearance bond requiring a 100% deposit.
