Norwalk police raid smoke shop, seize illegal cannabis products

NORWALK — The Norwalk Police Department Special Services Division executed a search and seizure warrant at Mohegan Smoke Shop Thursday, uncovering illegal cannabis products and leading to one arrest.

Officers raided the shop at 84 North Main Street on April 10 as part of an ongoing investigation into smoke shops selling cannabis products without proper licensing.

During the search, police discovered pre-wrapped marijuana cigarettes, gummies, edibles, and vapes in a locked storage room packaged for sale.

Authorities said the gummies exceeded Connecticut’s legal THC limit of 1mg per serving for unlicensed retailers.

Connecticut law prohibits selling products with THC concentration greater than 0.3% without a state-issued license, and only licensed dispensaries can sell pure marijuana.

Police seized several hundred dollars in cash from the store, which will be processed through asset forfeiture.

Yassin R. Adwan, 23, of Bridgeport, was arrested and charged with possession of greater than 1 kg of marijuana product and possession with intent to sell over 1 kg of marijuana product.

Adwan’s bond was set at $25,000.
