WOODBURY — A collision between a motorcycle and a Town of Woodbury police vehicle on U.S. Route 6 left two people injured Wednesday evening.
New York State Police troopers from Monroe responded to the scene at approximately 6:37 p.m. in the village of Woodbury.
According to the preliminary investigation, a marked 2024 Dodge Durango operated by a Town of Woodbury Police Officer was traveling eastbound in the passing lane of Route 6 when the officer activated emergency lights to make a U-turn.
As the officer was completing the U-turn into the westbound lanes, a 2021 BMW motorcycle traveling eastbound struck the rear driver’s side tire of the police vehicle.
The motorcyclist, identified as a 20-year-old Highland Mills resident, was ejected upon impact and sustained serious injuries.
The injured motorcyclist was transported to Westchester Medical Center for treatment.
The police officer was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
