MALTA — A Queensbury woman was arrested on felony DWI charges Wednesday after being pulled over for driving without headlights or taillights on U.S. Route 9, according to the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office.
Monica R. Wornall, 27, was stopped at 9 p.m. when deputies observed her vehicle operating without illuminated headlamps or tail lamps.
Deputies also discovered the vehicle had a suspended registration due to an insurance lapse.
Further investigation led to Wornall’s arrest for driving while intoxicated, which was elevated to a Class E felony due to a previous DWI conviction within the past 10 years.
Wornall was also charged with operating a vehicle with suspended registration, an unclassified misdemeanor, along with infractions for no headlamps, no tail lamps, and refusing to take a breath test.
She was released on appearance tickets at the direction of Malta Town Court Judge Ellwood A. Sloat Jr. pending further court proceedings.
The charges do not qualify for bail under New York state law that took effect in January 2020, according to the sheriff’s office.
