KINGSTON — Detectives from the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office have arrested a 22-year-old Bronx man in connection with a grand larceny investigation involving a stolen government check.
On Jan. 23, authorities were alerted that a check issued by the Ulster County Department of Social Services for approximately $65,000 had been stolen, altered and deposited into an ATM in Brooklyn.
Following an investigation, detectives identified the suspect as Famod Konneh, 22, of the Bronx.
Konneh was located and taken into custody on April 9 in Brooklyn with assistance from the New York City Police Department and the United States Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force.
He was charged with grand larceny in the second degree, a felony.
Konneh was transported to Ulster County, where he was arraigned in the Town of Ulster Justice Court and released on his own recognizance.
He is scheduled to return to the Town of Ulster Justice Court at a later date.
The Ulster County Sheriff’s Office was assisted in the case by the New York City Police Department, the United States Marshals Service NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force, and the Ulster County Corrections Division.
