DUXBURY — The body of a 45-year-old Essex man was recovered from the Winooski River near the Bolton Falls Power Dam on Wednesday, Vermont State Police said.
The deceased has been identified as John Gaye following an autopsy conducted Friday at the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Burlington.
The discovery was made at approximately 6:35 p.m. Wednesday by a person walking along the river.
Vermont State Police responded to the scene with assistance from the Waterbury Fire Department to recover the body.
Authorities said the cause and manner of death are still pending, but the death is not considered suspicious.
State police had previously helped Essex Police Department search for Gaye in December 2024 when it was believed he had entered the Winooski River in Waterbury.
No further information is currently available, according to police.
