PENN YAN — A Penn Yan man was arrested after a 1-year-old child in his care was found wandering alone at an apartment complex, police said.
Shane D. Hanes, 25, was charged with endangering the welfare of a child following an investigation by the Penn Yan Police Department.
According to authorities, the toddler had exited the residence and was discovered by a neighbor wandering around the apartment complex.
The child was unharmed and was returned to the mother, police said.
Hanes was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to answer the charge in Penn Yan Village Court at a later date.
