PENN YAN — A 27-year-old Savannah man was arrested after being indicted by a Yates County Grand Jury on two counts of rape involving a 15-year-old girl.
Elijah Q. Vreeland allegedly drove from Wayne County to the Village of Penn Yan on March 26 and sexually assaulted the teenage victim.
According to authorities, the victim reported that Vreeland tracked her location through a social media app before entering her residence and forcibly assaulting her.
Vreeland was arrested by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office and transferred to Penn Yan Police Department custody.
He faces charges of first-degree rape, a class B felony, and third-degree rape, a class E felony.
Following his arraignment in Yates County Court, Vreeland was remanded to the Yates County Jail on $25,000 cash bail, $50,000 secured bond or $75,000 partially secured bond.
