HOMER — A 27-year-old Homer man faces multiple misdemeanor charges after allegedly fleeing from police and crashing his vehicle while intoxicated.

Gavin M. Dunn of State Route 11 was charged with unlawful fleeing a police officer in the third degree, obstruction of governmental administration in the second degree, resisting arrest, driving while intoxicated, aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle in the third degree, and two counts of reckless driving, along with numerous vehicle and traffic infractions.

According to the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office, on April 4 at approximately 8:06 p.m., an officer attempted to stop Dunn’s vehicle on Route 11 in the Town of Homer for an equipment violation.

Dunn allegedly refused to stop and fled in his vehicle, causing the officer to lose sight of him.

A short time later, officers from the Cortland City Police Department located the vehicle in the City of Cortland and attempted to stop Dunn, who again refused to stop and fled a second time.

While fleeing, Dunn allegedly violated numerous vehicle and traffic laws before his vehicle left the roadway and crashed.

Officers found Dunn to be intoxicated at the scene, and he was taken into custody and transported to Upstate Medical Center for medical care.

Dunn was processed at the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office on April 10 at 4 a.m., where he was issued appearance tickets.

He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Cortlandville Court on April 28 at 2:30 p.m. and the Town of Homer Court on May 6 at 4 p.m. for arraignment.
