MACHIAS — The Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at a Machias residence on April 8 at 8:55 p.m., resulting in the arrest of two men on drug charges.
Michael J. Connors, 43, and Richard A. Smith, 38, both of Machias, were charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree and criminal use of drug paraphernalia in the second degree.
The search warrant was executed at 32 Sunset Drive by task force members from the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office, Salamanca Police Department, and Olean Police Street Crimes Unit.
Officials said the investigation revealed the residence was being used for the sale of illegal narcotics.
During the search, authorities discovered quantities of suspected methamphetamine, crack cocaine, fentanyl, mushrooms, and drug paraphernalia.
The Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team assisted with the operation.
Both suspects were arraigned and are being held pending further proceedings.
