WEST CHESTERFIELD — A man was arrested Wednesday night after fleeing police responding to a domestic disturbance at the Riverside Hotel.

Officers were dispatched to the hotel at approximately 11:36 p.m. following reports of an ongoing domestic incident.

Upon arrival, Officer Steve Gordon encountered Steven Miller, who had sustained injuries to his arms from the altercation.

Officer Gordon observed that Miller was armed with a handgun and attempted to detain him.

Miller resisted arrest and fled on foot toward Brattleboro, leading to a brief pursuit before he was taken into custody.

Miller was transported to Cheshire Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

He was arraigned Thursday in Keene District Court and is currently being held in preventative detention at the Cheshire County House of Corrections.

Miller faces charges of resisting arrest, felon in possession of a dangerous weapon and possession of a controlled drug.

Authorities say the investigation is ongoing but there is no threat to the public.

Chesterfield Police were assisted by the Brattleboro Police Department, Hinsdale Police Department, Chesterfield Fire Department and Rescue Inc.
