WORCESTER — A Worcester Police officer arrested three individuals on firearm charges after observing a vehicle traveling the wrong way on Irving Street early Thursday morning.

At about 1:45 a.m. on April 10, an officer driving east on Chandler Street toward Park Avenue spotted a white Honda traveling in the wrong direction on Irving Street, a one-way road.

The officer observed the driver, later identified as Jadah Putman, 23, of Fall River, switch from the driver’s seat to the back seat while another individual moved to the front seat.

Additional officers arrived at the scene to assist with the investigation.

The three occupants provided inconsistent accounts about their seating positions and reasons for moving within the vehicle.

Officers discovered an open container of alcohol in the vehicle and located a firearm with an extended magazine inside a bag.

None of the vehicle’s occupants possessed a license to carry firearms.

Putman, along with Elvis Julian, 26, of Boston, and Shamia Whitfield, 26, of Dorchester, were arrested at the scene.

All three individuals were charged with possession of a large capacity firearm, possession of a loaded firearm, possession of a large capacity feeding device, carrying a firearm, and possession of an open container of alcohol.

Putman faces an additional charge of operating with a suspended license, while Julian had an outstanding arrest warrant.
