PAMELIA — New York State Police responded to a report of a jackknifed tractor-trailer on Interstate 81 in the Town of Pamelia, Jefferson County, at approximately 10:39 a.m. on April 8.
The investigation determined that Patrick A. Zent, 55, of North Tonawanda, was operating a 2016 Freightliner southbound on Interstate 81 when he lost control of the vehicle due to snow-covered roadway conditions.
The truck subsequently jackknifed, and the impact caused the vehicle’s fuel tank to be punctured, resulting in the release of approximately 60 gallons of fuel onto the roadway.
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) was notified and responded to the scene for spill mitigation and cleanup.
Zent was issued a traffic ticket for speed not reasonable and prudent.
The vehicle was removed from the scene by Vantassel Towing.
No injuries were reported.
The incident remains under investigation.
