BOSTON — Officers from the Boston Police Department’s Drug Control Unit arrested a 37-year-old Revere man on drug trafficking charges Tuesday afternoon following an investigation near Washington Street.

Mark Dioguardi was taken into custody at about 3 p.m. on April 8 inside the Aquarium MBTA station after officers observed what they believed to be a drug transaction.

The investigation began when officers conducting surveillance in the area of 329 Washington Street spotted Dioguardi exiting the Downtown Crossing MBTA station.

Officers observed him make a phone call before entering a McDonald’s restaurant where he sat with another male, neither of whom ordered food.

During their surveillance, officers witnessed one of the males counting money before both individuals left the restaurant and walked in separate directions.

Dioguardi was then observed walking toward the Aquarium MBTA station, making another phone call, and retrieving an item from his backpack.

Officers witnessed what appeared to be a hand-to-hand exchange between Dioguardi and another individual inside the train station before the two separated.

Police stopped one suspect and recovered a plastic bag of Fentanyl, informing him he would be summonsed to court for Possession of Class A.

Officers then detained Dioguardi inside the MBTA station, where a search revealed two plastic bags of Fentanyl in his pants and twelve individually wrapped plastic bags of Fentanyl in his backpack.

The drugs were later determined to weigh approximately 15 total grams, and officers also recovered $344 in U.S. currency.

Dioguardi faces charges of Trafficking of Class A and Distribution of Class A, and is expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court.
