LYNBROOK — Lynbrook police officers arrested an Elmont man Friday after discovering forged temporary license plates and fraudulent insurance documentation during a routine patrol.
Officers observed a gray Acura with a suspicious 60-day temporary plate displayed in the rear window around 5 p.m. April 4.
Drawing on specialized training from the NYPD Auto Crime School, officers quickly identified the temporary plate as a forgery.
When stopped, the driver produced a fictitious insurance card, leading to his immediate arrest.
The suspect faces multiple counts of Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument along with numerous Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.
He remains in custody awaiting prosecution.
