AUBURN — A man wanted for robbery in Pennsylvania was arrested at a Speedway gas station after initially providing false information to police early Wednesday.

Officers first encountered Greg Brown at the Holiday Inn following a 911 hang-up call at approximately 12:11 a.m.

During the initial interaction, Brown gave officers a fake date of birth and claimed to have no identification.

After Brown left the hotel and walked to the Speedway gas station at 68 North Street, officers verified his true identity and discovered he was wanted on a robbery warrant from Pennsylvania.

When officers located Brown at the gas station and informed him he was under arrest, he became tense and resisted, according to police.

Following a brief struggle, officers took Brown into custody and transported him to Auburn Police Department headquarters for processing.

Police said Brown remained uncooperative at headquarters, refusing to be fingerprinted and photographed.

Brown was charged with being a fugitive from justice and resisting arrest, a Class A misdemeanor.

He was later transported to the Cayuga County Jail where he is being held pending arraignment in Cayuga County Court.
