MARGARETVILLE — The New York State Police at Margaretville responded to the Margaretville Central School District on April 1 following reports of a student bringing a BB gun to school.
An investigation revealed that the incident occurred on March 27, when an 18-year-old student was seen with a BB gun inside his backpack by another student and a teacher.
The student did not make any threats or display aggressive behavior.
The teacher, identified as Jennifer Sobas-Sands, did not report the BB gun after observing it.
Following the investigation, the student was charged with the misdemeanor of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
Sobas-Sands faced charges of Official Misconduct and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, both misdemeanors.
The student was arraigned at the Delaware County Centralized Arraignment.
Sobas-Sands is scheduled to appear in Middletown Town Court on May 22.
