SHELDON — An 80-year-old Highgate woman suffered minor injuries Tuesday afternoon when she failed to stop at an intersection, resulting in a collision with another vehicle.
Vermont State Police responded to the crash at the intersection of VT 105 and VT 78 at 12:39 p.m. on April 8.
According to investigators, Emma Chaplin was driving a 2019 Chevrolet Equinox when she failed to stop at the intersection.
Dustin Machia, 29, of Alburg, was traveling westbound on VT 105 in a 2020 Ram 1500 when Chaplin’s vehicle entered the intersection.
The vehicles collided in the westbound lane of VT 105, with Chaplin’s Equinox sustaining heavy damage to the driver’s side, particularly the rear passenger door.
Machia’s Ram pickup received minor front-end damage in the crash.
Chaplin was transported to Northwestern Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.
Machia was not injured in the collision.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
The crash occurred under clear skies with dry road conditions.
