Driver seriously injured in I-91 crash in Lyndon

LYNDON — A 24-year-old Derby woman was seriously injured when her vehicle struck a tree on Interstate 91.

Madison Craig was traveling south on I-91 near mile marker 142 at approximately 7:36 a.m. when her 2023 Volkswagen Taos left the roadway.

The vehicle entered the median, struck a tree, and then came to rest back on the roadway, according to Vermont State Police.

Craig, who was not wearing a seat belt, suffered serious injuries in the crash.

She was initially transported to Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital before being transferred to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.

The crash occurred during snowy conditions with wet roads.

Vermont State Police were assisted at the scene by Lyndonville Fire Department, Wheelock Fire Department, Lyndon Rescue, and Caledonia Wrecker.

The vehicle was totaled in the crash.
