OSSINING — A 33-year-old man turned himself in to police Monday following a March crash where a vehicle struck a building, causing a fire and displacing 15 residents.
Tevin Mackey of Ossining surrendered at police headquarters on April 8 in connection with the March 29 incident, according to the Ossining Police Department.
Police responded to multiple calls around 4:30 p.m. on March 29 reporting a vehicle had struck a house near South Highland Avenue and Broad Avenue.
Officers arrived to find a 2011 Subaru Impreza had crashed into the corner of a multi-apartment building at 62 South Highland Avenue, damaging utility connections and starting a fire.
The vehicle was unoccupied when officers arrived, and witnesses reported seeing a male driver flee the scene after the crash.
The Ossining Fire Department responded and eventually brought the fire under control.
Fifteen residents and their pets were displaced from multiple apartments due to damage from the crash and subsequent fire.
No injuries were reported in the incident.
Mackey, who police said was not the registered owner of the vehicle, is scheduled for arraignment in Ossining Town Justice Court on April 15.
