CORTLAND — A Scott resident was arrested Monday after allegedly violating an order of protection by contacting a protected individual, according to the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office.
Jason A. Hopkins, 36, of Cold Brook Road in the Town of Scott, was charged with second-degree criminal contempt, a misdemeanor.
Deputies responded to a domestic complaint at approximately 9:22 a.m. Monday to investigate a possible violation of an order of protection.
Through their investigation, officers determined Hopkins had contacted a known victim in violation of the protection order’s terms.
Hopkins was taken into custody and transported to the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office for processing.
He was arraigned through the Centralized Arraignment Process at 8 p.m. Monday and released on his own recognizance.
Hopkins is scheduled to appear in Town of Cortlandville Court on April 14 at 11 a.m.
