CENTRAL ISLIP — The Suffolk County Police Department is spotlighting unsolved cases as part of National Crime Victims’ Rights Week, hoping to generate public assistance in bringing justice to victims.

The first case in focus this year is the 2024 murder of Marco Tulio Pineda, a Central Islip resident.

Police responded to a call on February 1 from an acquaintance who found Pineda deceased in the rear yard of a residence on 2nd Avenue.

An autopsy confirmed Pineda, 51, was a victim of homicide.

Pineda worked as a flooring installer and was known to frequent businesses along Suffolk Avenue in Central Islip.

Crime Stoppers is offering a fast-cash reward for information that leads to the arrest of Pineda’s killer.

Individuals with information are encouraged to contact Suffolk County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
