CAMILLUS — Marcellus Ladder 33 was dispatched to a possible residential fire on Howlett Hill Road in the Camillus Fire District at 1:27 a.m. today.
Marcellus Ladder 33, operated by Firefighter McNally, and Car 2, operated by Assistant Chief Mayers, responded with six members, along with the rest of the box alarm assignment.
Camillus Car 1 arrived on scene and reported a smoke condition in the basement.
Crews investigated an issue with a fuel oil furnace.
Assistant Chief Mayers was assigned to interior operations.
Ladder 33’s crew worked with Fairmount and Camillus units to isolate power to the furnace and ventilate the structure, while using gas meters to measure air quality.
High readings of carbon monoxide were present when crews initially entered the structure.
