2 arrested in Kingston after attempted burglary on Clinton Avenue

KINGSTON — Two men were arrested after allegedly attempting to break into an occupied residence on Clinton Avenue, according to the City of Kingston Police Department.

Orion McLeod, 53, of Kingston, also known as Odie Ector, and Vincent Girard, 42, of Saugerties, were arrested at approximately 6 p.m. on April 7.

Police responded to a report of two subjects trying to break into a residence on Clinton Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers observed McLeod operating a motor vehicle with Girard in the passenger seat.

According to police, the vehicle was being driven in reverse in what appeared to be an attempt to flee and struck a parked vehicle on Clinton Avenue, causing damage.

McLeod allegedly attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended.

Police said McLeod’s privilege to operate a motor vehicle in New York State is both suspended and revoked.

Both defendants were found to be in possession of illegal substances, and McLeod allegedly caused damage to the residence he was attempting to enter.

McLeod was charged with attempted burglary in the second degree, criminal mischief in the fourth degree, DWAI drugs/alcohol, aggravated unlicensed operator first degree, circumventing interlock device, criminal possession of a controlled substance seventh degree, obstructing governmental administration second degree, and resisting arrest, along with other vehicle and traffic law violations.

Girard was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance third degree and obstructing governmental administration second degree.

McLeod was treated at and released from NAHV ER for minor injuries.

Both subjects were processed and held overnight for arraignment.

They were arraigned in Kingston City Court and remanded to the Ulster County Jail without bail.
