Three arrested in Worcester double homicide case

WORCESTER — Three males have been arrested in connection with a November 2024 double homicide on Brookside Avenue following an intensive investigation by Worcester police.

A male and female were shot on Nov. 21 and later died of their injuries.

On April 7, twenty-two-year-old Sheldon Thorpe of Fall River was arrested in Dorchester.

Thorpe has been charged with two counts of murder, two counts of armed assault with intent to rob, unlawful carry of a rifle, unlawful possession of ammunition, and unlawful possession of a rifle in the commission of a felony.

On April 3, thirty-one-year-old Shaquille Watford of Weymouth was arrested in Weymouth on warrants related to the Worcester shootings and unrelated charges.

Watford faces two charges of armed assault with intent to rob, unlawful carry of a rifle, unlawful possession of ammunition, and unlawful possession of a rifle in the commission of a felony.

He is also set to be arraigned on two charges of murder.

A third suspect, twenty-nine-year-old Jeffrey Toney of Attleboro, who was already in custody on unrelated charges, faces identical charges as Watford.

The Worcester Police Department extended gratitude to several agencies for their assistance in the arrests, including the Weymouth Police Department, the Fall River Police Department, the Boston Police Department Gang Unit, the U.S. Marshals Service, the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section, and the Massachusetts State Police Gang Unit.
