STAMFORD — The Stamford Police Department has arrested a 43-year-old local man in connection with a hit-and-run that left a pedestrian seriously injured earlier this year.

Jeremiah Vizzo surrendered to police on Monday, April 7 at 7 a.m. after an investigation determined he intentionally struck a 57-year-old Stamford resident with his 2008 Lexus SUV.

The incident occurred in the 400 block of West Main Street on Sunday, Feb. 16 at approximately 7 a.m.

The victim suffered very serious injuries and was transported to Stamford Hospital, where they were admitted to the intensive care unit.

According to police, the Lexus fled the scene after the collision.

Patrol officers identified the vehicle and possible driver using multiple investigative techniques before the department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad took over the case.

Investigators secured a search warrant for the vehicle, which was later brought to the Stamford Police Department for evidence processing.

Officer Cory Fisher completed an arrest warrant application that was signed by Stamford Superior Court.

Vizzo faces charges of assault in the first degree, reckless operation, and felony evading responsibility.

He is being held on a $75,000 court-set bond and is scheduled to appear in court on April 21.
