Endicott police arrest two residents after traffic stop leads to weapon and drug discovery

ENDICOTT — Two Endicott residents were arrested following a traffic stop on Saturday, April 5, leading to the discovery of an illegal assault weapon and fentanyl, according to the Endicott Police Department.

Tashia M. Corey, 31, and Justin T. Leo, 39, both residing at 1400 Davis Avenue, were stopped by the Endicott Police Community Response Unit around 1 p.m. on Nanticoke Avenue for a vehicle and traffic violation.

A Vestal Police K9 unit was called to the scene and alerted officers to the vehicle, prompting a search.

During the search, officers recovered a rifle deemed an illegal assault weapon under New York State law, along with a small amount of fentanyl.

After her arrest, Corey was found to possess an additional 15 grams of fentanyl.

Both individuals were prohibited from possessing a rifle.

Corey faces charges of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd degree, a Class B Felony, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd degree, a Class D Felony.

Leo was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd degree, a Class D Felony.

Both suspects were arraigned in Broome County CAP Court.
