BUFFALO — Erie County Sheriff John C. Garcia announced the arrest of two Buffalo residents and the seizure of contraband following a coordinated narcotics investigation.
The suspects, Jay Renfro, 30, and Walter Hicks-Jones, 37, were apprehended Tuesday morning during the execution of a New York State search warrant at 77 Eller Avenue in Buffalo.
The operation was led by the Erie County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics and Intelligence Unit with assistance from the Buffalo Police Department Intelligence Unit and the FBI Safe Streets Task Force.
Inside the residence, authorities discovered more than 25mg of suspected psilocybin, a loaded 9mm ghost gun with a large capacity ammunition feeding device, and an unspecified amount of U.S. currency.
Both Renfro and Hicks-Jones face multiple charges, including criminal possession of a hallucinogen with intent to sell, a Class B felony, and several charges related to the possession of an illegal firearm.
The two men have been remanded to the Erie County Holding Center pending arraignment.
