MIDDLEBOROUGH — Police Chief Robert Ferreira and Fire Chief Owen Thompson report that the Middleborough Police and Fire Departments responded to a serious single-vehicle crash Sunday morning.
On Sunday, April 6, at approximately 2:37 a.m., Middleborough Police and Fire were dispatched to Marion Road for reports of a single-vehicle crash.
Upon arrival, first responders located a vehicle that appeared to have crashed into a tree with the driver of the vehicle trapped inside.
The passenger of the vehicle was extracted by bystanders prior to the arrival of first responders.
Middleborough Fire used hydraulic cutting tools to extract the driver from the vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle, an 18-year-old from East Bridgewater, was transported to an area hospital with what appeared to be life-threatening injuries.
He was later pronounced dead.
The passenger of the vehicle was transported to an area hospital with what were believed to be serious injuries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by Middleborough Police and State Police Detectives assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office.
