SARATOGA SPRINGS — A 27-year-old man died early Thursday after being shot with a pellet gun, leading to manslaughter charges against his roommate, police said.
Saratoga Springs Police Department responded to a residence on Warren Street after receiving an emergency call reporting that a man had shot his roommate with a BB gun.
The caller reported the victim was bleeding and having difficulty breathing.
Officers found the victim, identified as Michael Collins of Saratoga Springs, unconscious and unresponsive at the scene.
Emergency medical personnel from the Saratoga Springs Fire Department transported Collins to Albany Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Police arrested 26-year-old Brendan Carl of Saratoga Springs in connection with the incident.
Carl has been charged with second-degree manslaughter, a Class C felony, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a Class A misdemeanor.
Following his arraignment in Saratoga Springs City Court by Judge Wait, Carl was remanded to the custody of the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office.
Bail was set at $25,000 cash, $50,000 partial bond, or $300,000 bond.
