FERRISBURGH — A Waterbury man faces charges after crashing his BMW on U.S. Route 7 and violating his ignition interlock restriction, state police said.

Troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash on April 6 at approximately 12:30 p.m. on U.S. Route 7 south of Dakin Road.

Investigation revealed that Shawn Sartelle, 38, was traveling north when his 2015 BMW 328 left the northbound lane and struck a culvert.

The vehicle sustained front-end and undercarriage damage in the crash.

Troopers determined that Sartelle’s vehicle was not equipped with an ignition interlock device as required by his driver’s license restrictions.

Sartelle was placed under arrest and transported to the New Haven Barracks for processing.

He was released with a citation to appear in Addison County Superior Court, Criminal Division on May 12 at 12:30 p.m.

Sartelle was also issued a traffic ticket for “Driving on roadways laned for traffic” under 23 VSA 1038, which carries a fine of $220 and two points on his license.

The Vergennes Police Department assisted state troopers at the scene.

No injuries were reported in the incident.
