WATERBURY — Officers from the Waterbury Police Department responded to St. Mary’s Hospital after a third party reported his friend had been shot in the face on March 27 at approximately 5:19 a.m.

During the response, officers located a related crime scene at 96 Charles Street.

The victim, a 37-year-old male from Waterbury, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and has since been released from the hospital.

Police believe the involved parties were known to each other.

Following an investigation, detectives from the Waterbury Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Bureau identified the suspect as Tyrelle Hudson, 30, of Waterbury.

On April 4, members of the Waterbury Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Bureau, with assistance from the Southington Police Department, located Hudson at a hotel in Southington and took him into custody without incident.

Hudson has been charged with criminal possession of a firearm, illegal discharge of a firearm, first-degree reckless endangerment, first-degree assault, and criminal attempt to commit murder.

This remains an active investigation, and anyone with information is asked to contact the Waterbury Police Department Detective Bureau at (203) 574-6941 or the Crime Stoppers anonymous tip line at (203) 755-1234.
