RHINEBECK — A Poughkeepsie school administrator was arrested Friday for allegedly pushing a 10-year-old student to the ground, according to New York State Police.

Duane Sharrock, 51, of Poughkeepsie, was charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a Class A misdemeanor.

The incident allegedly occurred on December 10 at the Dutchess County BOCES Elementary School in the Town of Hyde Park.

State Police at Rhinebeck received a Law Enforcement Referral reporting that Sharrock, the school’s assistant principal, had pushed the student to the ground from behind during school dismissal.

Following a thorough investigation, Sharrock was processed at SP Rhinebeck and released on an Appearance Ticket.

He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Hyde Park court on April 8 at 8:30 a.m.
