SUNDERLAND — A New York driver hydroplaned across the center line of U.S. Route 7 near Exit 3, causing a head-on collision with another vehicle during rainy conditions Saturday afternoon.
The crash occurred at approximately 4:18 p.m. on April 5, according to Vermont State Police from the Shaftsbury Barracks who responded to the scene.
Steve Campuzano, 34, of Sleepy Hollow, N.Y., was traveling south on Route 7 in a 2025 BMW 330i when his vehicle hydroplaned on the wet roadway.
Campuzano crossed the center line and collided with a northbound 2018 Subaru Legacy driven by Randi Lowe, 52, of Manchester.
Both vehicles were totaled in the collision.
Lowe sustained minor injuries and was transported to Southwestern Vermont Medical Center.
Campuzano was not injured in the crash.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.
Arlington Fire Department, Arlington Rescue Squad, Northshire Rescue, and Manchester Fire Department assisted state troopers at the scene.
