Hudson Falls woman arrested on child exploitation charges

GREENWICH — State Police arrested a Hudson Falls woman on felony charges related to child sexual exploitation following an investigation that began with a cyber tip.

Gabriela M. Smith, 23, was taken into custody on April 3 and charged with Promoting a Sexual Performance by a Child, a class “D” felony, and Possessing a Sexual Performance by a Child, a class “E” felony.

The arrest came after State Police of Greenwich, with assistance from the Troop G Computer Crimes Unit, the Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce, the Hudson Falls Police Department, and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, executed a search warrant at Smith’s Hudson Falls residence.

Authorities said the investigation originated from a cyber tip provided by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).

Smith was initially arrested at the Hudson Falls Police Department before being transported to SP Greenwich for processing.

She was later transferred to the Washington County Correctional Facility where she awaits arraignment.
