Fire at Colchester bowling alley deemed suspicious

COLCHESTER — A fire at Spare Time Bowling Alley late Friday night is being investigated as suspicious, according to local authorities.

Colchester Police and Fire Department responded to the bowling alley at 215 Lower Mountain View at approximately 11:44 p.m. on April 4 after a fire alarm was activated.

Occupants reported smelling smoke and were evacuating the building when emergency personnel arrived.

The Colchester Fire Department determined that the fire had been extinguished by the building’s fire suppression system and was contained to one room.

Authorities believe the circumstances of the fire are suspicious, according to a statement released by the Colchester Police Department.

The investigation is being conducted by Colchester Police with assistance from the Vermont State Police Fire Investigation Unit and the Vermont Fire Marshal.

Multiple agencies provided additional resources during the initial response, including the Winooski Fire Department, Burlington Fire Department, St. Michaels College Fire Department, and the Vermont Air National Guard Fire Department.
