Clifton Park woman faces Leandra’s Law charge after erratic driving incident

CLIFTON PARK — State Police responded to reports of an erratic vehicle on I-87 in Clifton Park at 12:49 p.m. March 16.

The vehicle was later found unoccupied on Foxwood Drive, with the driver, Daniela S. Paixaoesilva, 51, of Clifton Park, located nearby.

During the investigation, Paixaoesilva was uncooperative, resisted arrest, and struck Troopers, according to police.

Authorities discovered a child under the age of 16 was in the vehicle during the incident.

Paixaoesilva was arrested for Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with a Child (Leandra’s Law), Endangering the Welfare of a Child, two counts of Obstructing Governmental Administration in the second degree, Resisting arrest, Harassment in the second degree, and multiple Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.

She was transported to SP Clifton Park for processing, where she continued to be uncooperative and refused to provide a blood alcohol sample.

After arraignment at Clifton Park Town Court, she was released on her own recognizance.

On March 26, Paixaoesilva returned to SP Clifton Park to be photographed and fingerprinted as ordered by the court.

In a separate incident on March 28, State Police of Saratoga responded to reports of an erratic vehicle on North Line Road in Milton at 4:20 p.m.

The driver, Rebecca A. Lepkowski, 45, of Ballston Spa, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated after recording a 0.20% BAC.

On March 29, Timothy A. Rock, 55, of Clifton Park, was arrested at 8:22 p.m. after being stopped on Blacksmith Drive in Malta, recording a 0.27% BAC.

Later that night at 11:55 p.m., Vanessa L. Wallace, 40, of Staten Island, was arrested on State Route 9 in Malta with two children under 16 in the vehicle, resulting in Leandra’s Law charges.

Joshua R. Farrow, 39, of Ballston Spa, was arrested on March 31 at 10:19 p.m. on Greenfield Avenue in Milton, recording a 0.19% BAC.

Monica M. Amaral, 27, of New Bedford, MA, was arrested at 11:50 p.m. on March 31 on I-87 in Saratoga Springs, recording a 0.28% BAC.

On April 1 at 2:02 a.m., Michael D. Redd, 23, of Mechanicville, was arrested after fleeing the scene of a one-car crash on Round Lake Road in Malta, later recording a 0.18% BAC.

Meghan M. Murray, 53, of South Glens Falls, was arrested at 8:59 p.m. on April 1 following a two-car crash on Saratoga Road in Moreau, recording a 0.19% BAC.

No injuries were reported in the April 1 crash.
