PLATTEKILL — A routine traffic stop on the New York State Thruway led to the arrest of a Brooklyn man found with more than 110 grams of crack cocaine.
New York State Police Troop F Community Stabilization Unit members stopped a 2018 BMW traveling northbound in the town of Plattekill for multiple vehicle and traffic law violations at approximately 12:30 a.m.
The driver, identified as Jamal L. Decoteau-Hird, 27, of Brooklyn, was found in possession of the crack cocaine following a search.
A subsequent vehicle search yielded no additional evidence.
Decoteau-Hird was transported to State Police Highland for processing and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 3rd degree, a class B felony, and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 3rd degree with intent to sell, also a class B felony.
He was also charged with multiple vehicle and traffic law violations.
Decoteau-Hird was arraigned in Plattekill Town Court and released on his own recognizance.
The investigation remains ongoing.
