Tioga County Sheriff’s Office makes multiple arrests for DWI, burglary

OWEGO — The Tioga County Sheriff’s Office has arrested four individuals on various charges including driving while intoxicated and burglary during the last two weeks of March.

Tyler Lowell, 34, of Endicott was arrested on March 22 for driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle crash investigation.

Lowell is scheduled to appear in Town of Nichols Court at a later date.

On March 29, deputies arrested James P. Dann, 33, on an arrest warrant for multiple charges including third-degree burglary, fourth-degree criminal mischief, fourth-degree grand larceny, fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and third-degree criminal mischief.

The charges stem from a burglary that occurred on October 15, 2024, in the Town of Newark Valley.

Dann was arraigned before Justice Townsend at CAP Court and remanded to the Tioga County Jail.

Jeffrey D. Hilbert, 41, was arrested on March 30 on an arrest warrant for second-degree criminal contempt and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

According to authorities, Hilbert and a passenger threw methamphetamine out of the passenger window during a vehicle stop in the Town of Richford.

Hilbert was arraigned before Justice Townsend at CAP Court, released on the arrest warrant, and issued an appearance ticket for the controlled substance charge with a court date of April 21.

Also on March 29, Jacob J. Engle Jr., 23, of Owego was arrested following a traffic stop on Fox Street in the Village of Owego.

Engle was charged with driving while intoxicated, an unclassified misdemeanor, along with other vehicle and traffic law violations.

He was released on an appearance ticket to appear in the Village of Owego Court at a later date.

The Owego Police Department K9 Unit assisted the Sheriff’s Office at the scene of Engle’s traffic stop.
