DEPEYSTER — A Heuvelton man was arrested Tuesday after allegedly choking a victim during a domestic dispute, according to New York State Police.

Tyler J. Brothers, 37, was charged with criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation and third-degree criminal mischief following the April 1 incident.

Troopers responded to East Road in the town of Depeyster at approximately 1:57 p.m. after receiving a report of a domestic dispute.

Investigators determined that Brothers and the victim had engaged in a verbal argument that escalated into a physical altercation.

During the incident, Brothers allegedly took the victim’s phone and damaged it before placing his hands around the victim’s neck, restricting their ability to breathe.

Brothers was transported to State Police barracks in Ogdensburg for processing.

He was later arraigned in the Town of Canton Court and released on his own recognizance.
