BOSTON — Officers from the Boston Police Department arrested a 30-year-old Boston man on multiple firearm charges following a confrontation in Mattapan early Thursday morning.
At about 2:24 a.m., officers assigned to District B-3 responded to 18 Vesta Road after receiving reports of a person with a gun.
Upon arrival, police observed Eumaai Springer, who matched the description provided by Boston Police Operations, arguing with three individuals.
Officers noted that Springer was pinning his right arm against his body in a suspicious manner.
When police attempted to gain control of Springer, he allegedly resisted by pushing and pulling away from the officers.
Despite attempts to de-escalate the situation, Springer reportedly refused to comply with officers’ commands.
With assistance from additional responding officers, police were able to place Springer in handcuffs.
During a subsequent pat frisk, officers recovered a Glock 43 firearm from Springer’s right jacket pocket, loaded with one round in the chamber and five rounds in the magazine.
Springer faces multiple charges including carrying a loaded firearm without a license (third offense), possession of ammunition without an FID card, firearm violation with three prior violent/drug crimes, assault with a dangerous weapon, and resisting arrest.
He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
